Soobum You graduated from Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
Soobum identifies himself as an explorer. He wants, through the work he creates, to reveal the hidden message and multiple dimensions of the world in which we live. He is fascinated with how analogy as a way of thinking used to be popular in the medieval period but disappeared in our modern minds. He also believes in the concept of transcendental beauty and shares what Umberto Eco describes in his book Art and Beauty in the Middle Ages, as “an image of the universe that was filled with light and optimism”. Using analogy as the tool of thinking, Soobum has shown his talent for transforming abstract ideas into real objects, technologies, and architecture.
Many teachers shaped Soobum’s vision and work: Carl G. Jung, C.S. Lewis, Gaston Bachelard, Hermann Hesse, Umberto Eco, Vincent Van Gogh, Louis Kahn, Le Corbusier, Buckminster Fuller, and Peter Zumthor.
